The La Porte Plant, located in La Porte, TX is in need of a Staff Inspector. This is a highly hazardous facility. This person will lead equipment inspection and maintenance at multiple units at a site or multiple sites within a region. They are expected to possess and apply advanced inspection skills and lead inspection activities related to the most complex work environments, processes and materials. This person will also develop inspection and test plans, examine equipment, documents results and make recommendations regarding repair/upgrade/retirement of equipment. They will take the lead role in plant-wide training programs and special initiatives related to inspection, and be recognized as subject matter expert in their area. Who will be representing the company to external agencies or organizations.
Responsibilities: * Participating in development of inspection and test plans for plant equipment. * Inspecting/examining equipment per applicable RAGAGEPs, documenting and transmitting inspection results, and making recommendations as appropriate for repair/upgrade/retirement of equipment. * Managing inspection data in systems such as Ultrapipe®. * Defining and approving repairs to in service equipment, per RAGAGEPs. This may include auditing and evaluation of local contracted repair organizations, and inspection of repair work. * Leading or participating in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and incident investigations related to equipment failures. * Directing and coordinating the work of contract inspectors/examiners as needed, including auditing and evaluation. * Where applicable, working with jurisdictional inspectors to ensure local requirements are met. * Managing inspection and repair documentation, potentially including NDE procedures, welding procedures, inspection plans, * Leads identification and prioritization of risk reduction opportunities, and helps areas in establishing appropriate priorities to drive process safety improvement. * Trains all site Inspectors on key inspection activities. * Leads the development of leveraged inspection efforts including systems/tools. * Assists in Operator, Mechanic and Engineer Training. * Networks with peers and leverages broader organization including DuET and CoC M&RI, etc. * Assists Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem solving. * Models appropriate behavior in Core Value compliance (SHE/PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) and model the appropriate behavior. * External connection for the function/discipline (agencies, societies). * A high school diploma or GED. * Valid Drivers License. * Visual Testing (VT) Level 2 Certification. * Must have 8 years of chemical/petrochemical plant inspection experience. * 3 common API certifications (510, 570, 653). * Familiar with common ASNT examination methods and specialized (advanced) methods. * Advanced skills - ASNT Level III on selected methods, or NBIC, or similar. * Manufacturing experience with exposure to SHE (Safety, Health, & Environmental), along with maintenance systems and tools. * PSM (Process Safety Management) high hazard experience.
