Title: Software Test Coordinator Location: Missouri-St. Louis Monsanto is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. Monsanto scientists are conducting the research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT works directly with the Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable these research and development efforts. This opportunity would allow the accepted candidate to directly contribute to delivering state-of-the art IT solutions. The successful candidate will be a member of the Technology Pipeline Solutions team within Monsanto to test enterprise-level Java, .Net, and Oracle applications. Candidates with a background in science relevant to the agriculture related research are highly desired for this position.
The core responsibility of the Software Testing Coordinator is to ensure the highest quality of the software that is developed to further Monsanto's research goals. The position involves following an established Testing Process and continuously seeking opportunities to improve it. The role will lead a team of talented Software Testers working on multiple projects, involved in translating requirements into test cases that are complete in risk coverage, executed on schedule and handed off for production deployment. Ability to balance priorities among competing needs for the team and providing clarity in ambiguous situations will be key to success in this role. Strong orientation and passion for metrics and standardization of operations will be an important expectation. Accepted candidate must be able to engage effectively with other groups to evolve aligned direction while fostering a positive environment. Good understanding of the Software QA industry best practices will be needed and the candidate will use this experience to articulate improvement opportunities clearly and at times may need to mentor junior testing staff.
Required Skills/Experience: Minimum of a BS degree in Computer Science or related field Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle Solid SQL skills Ability/understanding of when it is necessary to create automated tests Strong organizational skills, written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills
Desired Skills/Experience: Work and/or educational experience in an agricultural, biotechnology, or life sciences industry (Candidates with a degree in science relevant to the agriculture industry but with experience in leading Software QA are also welcome to apply) Experience or familiarity with Worksoft Certify testing tool or other Test automation tools
