Job Description
•Devises new approaches to complex problems through application and adaptation state-of-the-art techniques in the area of expertise, with focus on computer simulation and analysis.
•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
•As a good team player, share research outcomes, methodology and cycle-time reduction methods with team members and other divisional personnel.
•Supervises/coordinates an engineer and/or technicians on assigned work.
•Generate and leverage existing and new intellectual property for new therapy and/or clinical use. Also, authors articles in journals and contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
•Schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a large project or several small projects. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups.
•Create and communicate project plans, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information at key milestones through clear, concise oral and written communications.
•Engage in personal and continuing program of learning in order to broaden knowledge in mechanical engineering and to gain knowledge in new fields of general engineering in order to improve the individual effectiveness and to avoid technical obsolescence.""
Job Requirements
•Display a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise.
•Proven experience in linear and non-linear structural analysis, fluid dynamics, fluid structure interaction, materials science, thermal analysis, design for reliability, design of experiments and optimization.
•Expert in the use of one or more mechanical engineering tools, i.e. ABAQUS, FLUENT and Pro-Engineer.
•Ability to design / solve engineering problems with minimal assistance.
•Ability to convince management on courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
•Effectively operate in and may facilitate cross-functional teams with guidance.
•Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
•Demonstrated ability to decompose complex problems into actionable task lists.
•Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for mechanical engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope.
•Demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.)
•Ability to drive change initiatives
•B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum 8-10 years of mechanical engineering experience. M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum 6-8 years of mechanical engineering experience. PhD. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum 4-6 years of mechanical engineering experience. Preferred
•Expert in the linear and non-linear Finite Element analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
•Working knowledge of Quality System Regulations (QSR) and Six Sigma methodologies
•Experienced in Tolerance analysis and GD&T
•Understanding of design requirements for medical devices.
