Position Summary:
The responsibility of this position is to design custom opto-mechanical/mechanical products (components, subsystems, and systems), to select proper materials for the designed parts, to support the designs with analysis and testing for the required performances, and provide technical assistance to transfer the products to manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Designing custom opto-mechanical/mechanical components, subsystems, and systems.
Performing hands-on technical work in a laboratory environment involving metrology, optical alignment, testing, and data collection.
Identifying vendors and working with the vendors to source the designed components.
Working with manufacturing engineering to transfer the products to manufacturing
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
BS/MS in mechanical engineering
7-15 years of industry experience on opto-mechanical design.
Expert SolidWorks
Experience with PDMWorks is preferred.
Excellent analytical skills to support your designs with calculations and analysis.
Excellent understanding and experiences in materials selection and materials properties
Experience on plastic injection molding is strongly preferred.
Willingness and ability to perform hands-on technical work involving metrology, optical alignment, testing and data collection is required.
Experience in use of optical CAD files (Zemax) and file exchange formalism between SolidWorks and Zemax is preferred.
·Excellent verbal and written English skills to be an effective interface to the customers and vendors are required.
Ability to work both independently and in a group setting.
·Proactive and results oriented with ability to work in fast paced environment.
