Monsanto is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. Monsanto scientists are conducting the research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT works directly with the Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable these research and development efforts. The accepted candidate will join the emerging field of IT systems informatics leveraging their training to solve optimization problems in high throughput R&D business platforms (Breeding, Breeding Technology, Biotechnology and Compliance) for Monsanto. This position is for an experienced analyst interested in providing leadership to a small Operation Research team tasked with formulating mathematical models that can be used to accelerate or improve our new product development operations. The team will develop scenario modeling tools as well as solutions that can be incorporated directly into our field, laboratory, or pipeline management applications. Theoretical and practical experience in mathematical and constraint programming and algorithm development is a requirement. Experience with solving planning, scheduling, and space utilization problems highly desirable as is proficiency with the CPLEX/CP Optimizer toolset from IBM (ILOG).
PhD or M.S. in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering and 5 year's math modeling experience required. Candidates must possess the ability to rapidly learn new problem domains and become conversant in the domain with business users. Experience in laboratory science, application of optimization to spatial problems, or agriculture a plus.
