Monsanto is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. Monsanto scientists are conducting the research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT works directly with the Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable these research and development efforts. The accepted candidate will join the emerging field of IT systems informatics leveraging their training to play a key role in defining and delivering breakthrough science in high throughput R&D business platforms (Breeding, Breeding Technology, Biotechnology and Compliance) for Monsanto.
This position is responsible for deploying and supporting enterprise-level software systems developed by the Technology Pipeline Solutions IT team for our multi-functional, multi-crop Technology organization. The Support Specialist Co-op will assist with software deployment, training, user adoption, user support, troubleshooting, issue tracking and software documentation. The Support Specialist Co-op has liaison responsibilities with the application software project team.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (sophomore or above) or Master's degree program in any of the following: Plant Breeding, Molecular Breeding, Genetics, Biological Sciences, Statistics, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry. Experience or education in agronomy, breeding or biotechnology (e.g., field trials, testing, hybrid design, genetics) is highly desired. Candidate must be PC proficient with strong working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft software, possess strong organizational and problem solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are needed to explain complex concepts to individuals from varied backgrounds (IT, science, business, etc).
This position is a full time role for a period of 6 months, 40 hrs/week. There are two possible terms, January 2012 - June 2012 or June2012 - December 2012. The position will include a competitive bi-weekly salary to be determined based on educational level and tuition reimbursement is offered for one class during your term. Monsanto will reimburse relocation expenses incurred from school to work location and then back to school at the conclusion of the term (one roundtrip). In addition, a relocation stipend and a relocation specialist will be provided to help with finding an apartment in the area (if you live further than 50 miles from the worksite).
