Title: Research Scientist III -Insecticide Mode of Action Location: North Carolina-Research Triangle Pa BASF Agricultural Solutions, located in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina is headquarters for the BASF Crop Protection Products NAFTA Division, BASF Plant Sciences L.L.C., BASF Global Insecticide Research and BASF Global Agricultural Development.
We are seeking an enthusiastic team player as a Research Biologist in the Insecticide Biology Research Group at BASF's facility in RTP, North Carolina. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary program focused on the discovery of novel insecticides. Specifically, the incumbent will be a member of the Insecticide Mode of Action Team, which uses behavioral, physiological, microscopic and biochemical approaches to identify and characterize the mechanisms of action of novel insecticide chemistries. The position requires the ability to utilize a wide range of physiological and biochemical skills to support the mode of action discovery process, including: electrophysiology, behavior studies, genetics and biochemical assays.
Written and oral reports on experimental results and procedures will be required, as well as solid communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced multidisciplinary research team. The candidate must be willing to handle live insects and compounds of unknown toxicity.

Required Skills: * B.S. degree in entomology, biology, zoology or related field with two or more years experience in mode of action or insect physiology research. * Self starter, strong team orientation and adaptability to diverse projects. * Effective communication, observation and prioritization skills. * Strong quantitative reasoning ability. Desired: * M.S. degree in insect physiology, invertebrate toxicology or mode of action research with two or more years relevant experience -OR- Ph.D. degree in insect physiology, invertebrate toxicology or mode of action research. * Knowledge of insecticide toxicology and pesticide chemistry. * Experience in microscopy techniques. * Experience in analysis of insect behavior. * Previous experience working with a multinational agricultural products company.
