Research Associate - Ankeny, IA.
Title: Research Associate - Ankeny, IA. Location: Iowa-Ankeny Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual who desires to be part of a mult-disciplinary corn research team. The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional, matrix environment, interacting with members of Breeding and Biotechnology.
The Research Associate will have the opportunity to support the breeders in coordinating various marker projects, implementing and administering Standard Operating Protocols, and QA/QC. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading edge technology and a talented, cross-functional scientists seeking to deliver the very best crop genetics.
Responsibilities:
. Coordinate with deployment scientist, breeders, multi-season nurseries, and genotyping lab to achieve efficient transfer of biological materials, markers, and data to meet project timelines.
. Develop and maintain efficient processes and forecasts of marker lab resources.
. Participate in task-related document creation and process review for job-related activities
. Occassional travel to laboratory, breeding stations, and multi-season nursery sites. This position is located in Ankeny, IA
Required:
. Minimum of B.S. degree in genetics, molecular biology, plant science or related fields with 5 years experience. . Knowledge of molecular breeding techniques, lab processes, and the ability to interpret lab results to support breeding efforts. . Demonstrate strong intrapersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills. . Strong IT skills including MS Excel and data management, and ability to become proficient in corporate IT tools.
. Occasional travel is expected.
Desired Skills/Experience: . MS in genetics, molecular biology, plant breeding. . Experience with breeding nursery work. . Experience and knowledge in molecular marker development, genotyping, and lab automation are desired.
