Research Assistant Trait Genetics - Lettuce/Spinach on our location in WAGENINGEN. We are looking for a motivated colleague to work as a Research Assistant in our Trait Genetics team. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team. A significant amount of interaction and collaboration will take place with individuals in related fields, including but not limited to plant pathology, breeding, marker genotyping labs, and information technology. Key Responsibilities * Manage day-to-day operations for multi-season population development including sowing, transplanting, planting, tissue sampling, crossing, management of plants, harvest, database management, etc. * Prepare planting lists, trials, labels, field books, and related information * Manage long and short-term nursery cycles across traits and crops * Collaborate closely with the scientists and facility managers * Manage breeding program information technology systems * Assist in other projects and perform other duties as and when required * Actively participate in ESH programs on site
* BS in Crop Science, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Biology or related field of study * Self motivated, creative person able to work with minimal supervision and able to support the strive for efficiency and quality in the way we work * Computer skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Web based company databases * Comfortable in written/spoken English * Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks * Ability to work in a team based environment with multidisciplinary teams * Flexibility within a change-oriented environment * Excellent interpersonal and communicational skills and the ability to supervise seasonal labor * Follow and support company safety policies
