We are seeking a highly motivated scientific and regulatory professional to join our global Regulatory Policy and Scientific Affairs team to promote, improve, and protect science-based regulations and policies on agricultural biotechnology and agricultural productivity products through coordinated internal efforts and external influences. The Regulatory Policy and Scientific Affairs Manager - China will work closely with the China Regulatory lead, the Global Regulatory Policy and Scientific Affairs team members in the US and other associates in the Regulatory organization. The key objectives are to help define and prioritize critical regulation and policy goals in China, develop appropriate strategies and action plans and ensure appropriate execution. The individual is also expected to operate in close coordination and alignment with Corporate Affairs, Law, Commercial, and other functional personnel in China. As an important member of the overall strategy team on external influence, he or she will carry out scientific outreach activities with academics, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to promote, improve and defend science-based regulations and product registrations in China. This position will report to the regional director of Regulatory Policy and Scientific Affairs for Asia located in our Singapore office.

Responsibilities:

· Monitor and assess the biotechnology regulatory environment in China
· Help develop and implement strategies, activities and programs to ensure and improve Regulatory freedom-to-operate in China, including outreach to regulators, scientists and other government agencies.
· Develop and maintain relationship and networks with leading external stakeholders (including scientific community, seed industry, trade associations) to promote acceptance of science-based regulations and rational data requirements for product registrations.
· Advocate for new technology and conduct new biotechnology product outreach activities to communicate product safety assessment approaches to influential scientists, regulators, and other stakeholders.
· Manage potential product or science issues and stakeholder communications with the support from the global scientific outreach and issue management team.
An advanced degree (PhD) in plant sciences, biology, biochemistry, toxicology, entomology, pathology, agronomy or chemistry with a minimum of five years relevant work experience is desirable. Knowledge and experience of Regulatory science or Regulatory affairs in agricultural biotechnology are preferred. Experience in working with government officials/regulators on policy related issues is highly desired. The successful candidate should have demonstrated effective written and oral communication in both Chinese and English and organizational skills and project management capacity. He/she must be able to take initiative in a team-based environment and enjoy working with a diverse group of individuals within the company and external organizations.
