Quality Supervisor Territory (if applicable): Supply Chain Business Unit: Supply Chain includes facilities and processes that operate to manufacture a finished product from raw material and deliver to the end-user. This business unit enhances competitive advantage, efficiency, innovation, quality and consistency. Position Purpose: This position is responsible for the supervision of 8 lab technicians and the administration and monitoring of all laboratory testing equipment and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Ensuring testing results are timely, accurate, and meet all regulatory requirements as well as LOL specifications prior to release of product. Assists in maintaining all required electronic and file documentation. Coaching employees as needed to ensure compliance with quality programs and the new Global Food Safety Standards. Assisting the management team in the maintenance of the quality system. Supporting Kent policies, procedures, specifications, HACCP, standards, Interspec and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance. Conducting internal plant audits. Developing and overseeing training of new department employees. Testing and disposition of butter, cream, and spreads products. Monitoring and inspecting process equipment and in-process inspection and testing activities.
Other responsibilities include: Being an active participant on our HACCP Team. Assisting the QA Manager in measuring and monitoring key performance indicators as well as contributing data, background and insight into those metrics. Have daily interaction with the USDA and, on a lesser frequency, the Ohio Department of Agriculture, FDA, etc. Managing the QA Department in the absence of the QA Manager. Required (Basic) Experience & Education: Degree in a science-related field of study. Required Competencies & Other Skills: Must be skilled in identification of ""Root Cause"" analysis; demonstrate ability to lead and drive change with peers, as well as line employees; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to teach, coach, and implement quality programs. Must be able to effectively communicate and positively interact at the line and plant management level; and set and maintain high goals and standards of performance for self, peers, direct reports, and the plant. Requires strong analytical problem solving skills, working knowledge and statistics and process improvement, a clear understanding of HACCP, quality programs and Global Food Safety Initiative. Preferred Experience & Education: B.S. in Biology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology.
