The Personnel Safety Specialist for the Solutia, WG Krummrich site supports the Environmental, Health and Safety Department by leading the safety improvements and the injury prevention process to drive the site towards its goal of Zero Incidents. This individual will be visible in the field, and will assist, educate and help Supervisors and Employees as they strive to institutionalize "Taking Personal Ownership for Safety" as a core valve. Responsibilities for this position include: * Lead the Personnel Safety Programs to promote performance expectations for safe behavior to ensure the safety of our employees * Manage to Personal Safety policies and procedures including LOTO, BIP, Confined Space and Fall Protection and Hazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control. including hands on instruction in these areas as required * Direct WGKSLTmembers in compliance and permit process auditing requirements * Conduct analysis on incidents to determine gaps and to lead the efforts in preventing future incidents * Working with Solutia Cause Analysis (SCA) Site Champion, ensure timely completion and follow-through of Incident Investigations * Help provide guidance and understanding to the site in the area of Process Safety Management * Assist the ESHS Lead in developing and mentoring Site Leadership andESHmembers in areas ofESH * Assist the ESHS Lead in managing Contractors on site * Responsible for VPP Compliance efforts including annual VPP Assessment Report and re-certification * Provide ESHS support to Business Units and ESHS team members as assigned * Participant in audits (i.e. RC-14001, OSHA, IEPA, DOT, etc) * Active participation in the plant's Emergency Response Team * Assist with directing and supervising contract security personnel * Provide off shift coverage forESHissues * Promote and raise the awareness levels of the site by ensuring people are trained and have a complete understanding in the JSA and Pre-Job Hazard Assessment processes * Update and maintain ESHS procedures through the use of a document control systemRequired Skills Required Experience and Skills: * A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum 2 years experience * Experience in Process Safety Management and PHA methodology * Technical expertise in OSHA General and Construction Industry Regulations * Knowledge and experience in OSHA's VPP program * Experience in behavior based and/or peer-to-peer programs * Thorough knowledge or experience in Hazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control Methods * Hands of training experience * Ability to motivate and mentor others to affect positive results * Familiarity with chemical or heavy manufacturing processes * Strong organization and communication skillsJob LocationSauget, IL USPosition TypeFull-Time/Regular
