There are several roles that all start in the engineering contractors office, and subsequently move to site for construction, commissioning and start-up. The postholder will transfer to Production Division after start-up. The roles will support projects for North Sea, Angola, or Azerbaijan.
The main parts of the role will be: - to develop the operations and maintenance strategies required for operating phase, including estimated plant availability and operating costs; - assist in evaluation of trade-off decisions and influence development of the engineering design; - to deliver major parts of the operational readiness plan; - to participate in the recruitment, training and competency assessment of the operations team; - establish operational systems to control, manage and optimise performance of the plant once operational
The post holder will transfer to Production Division after start-up, reporting to the OIM/Operations Site Manager, and becoming a key member of the operations leadership team. Key accountabilities Seek out and embed operations knowledge into the design of the facility. Participate in document and model reviews to ensure operational requirements are incorporated. Participate in Engineering Assurance activities including HAZOP and Project HSSE Reviews.
Prepare base case availability assessments for the plant and develop an initial estimate of operating costs.
Deliver assigned sections of the operational readiness plan, including: - Demonstrate HSSE leadership in establishing operational practices which include high standards for health, safety and environmental performance. Establish and embed a safe system of work. - Review operations and start-up procedures to ensure technical quality and operability. - Participate in factory acceptance tests and in commissioning activities on site. - Provide technical and operational review for completed and commissioned systems, prior to handover to operations. - Leading the preparation and execution of a safe and efficient start of the plant - Plan and execute plant performance tests following start-up
Participate in recruitment and training of the operations team: - Act as line manager for Operations and Maintenance Supervisors. Participate in recruitment of Supervisors and operations technicians. - Manage competency database for technicians and supervisory staff. Track performance and progress against targets to ensure team is in place and competent well ahead of start-up.
Post start-up, establish operational systems that are compliant with BP Operating Management System and manage deliver against annual performance contracts. - manage operational HSE and production risks - develop and embed integrated field planning and production efficiency improvement processes - manage vendors and support contracts
There is scope to add to or change some of responsibilities in line with the skills and development requirements of any individual, and considering the balance of skills within the project team. Essential Education Engineering Degree, or equivalent. Essential experience and job requirements Experience within the oil, gas or chemical industry in an engineering or operational support role.
Experience of managing a team in an operational site environment. Experience of coaching and developing staff.
Responsibility for supervising the day to day operation of an oil or gas facility, including safety, integrity, and production optimisation.
Demonstrably strong HSSE leadership, risk management skills and process safety awareness.
Willing and able to be mobile in support of the project. Desirable criteria & qualifications Chartered / Professional engineer status
Operations experience may include onshore, offshore or subsea experience. Breadth of experience is an advantage.
Experience of working with an engineering contractor on a major project.
Knowledge and experience of operational readiness for a new facility, ideally gained through experience on a major project.
Experience of participating in factory acceptance tests and commissioning of equipment.
Experience of working in a multicultural environment ideally in Most of World location.
