The Dredging Office Engineer performs a broad cross-section of technical and administrative activities requiring recording, organizing and analyzing data, surveys and maps submitted by contractors, the dredging inspectors, designers and other sections such as quality assurance and safety. The Dredging Office Engineer reports to the Dredging Operations Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assists the Dredging Operations Manager in the management of dredging inspection activities, correspondence, data recording, data and map preparation and plotting, organization and analysis.
Reviews daily contractor reports.
Assists in identifying deficiencies and the preparation of non-conformance reports.
Assists in maintaining Project files and recording information in project logs.
Provides engineering and technical support to the Dredging Operations Manager in the development of draft technical, schedule, and cost correspondence.
Uses personal computers and other electronic means to input project information into quantity verification and schedule systems to analyze and produce management informational reports.
Interprets maps, environmental monitoring, land and hydrographic survey data and uses the information in preparation of analysis, reports and maps.
Assists the Dredging Operations Manager with field coordination activities.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Since work will occur 24 hours/day, shift work including nights should be expected. Twelve or thirteen hour shifts may be required.
This is a Casual position - July through December with the opportunity to return year after year.
Qualifications: JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering, technology, science or construction related field.
- Five years experience in related engineering, environmental remediation or construction activities.
- Computer efficiency with AutoCADD, AutoCADD 3D, GPS and mapping programs.
- Local candidates preferred.
Additional Requirements: - Ability to read, interpret, verify, and document conformance to the contract documents.
- Ability to perform quantity take-offs and measure quantities from contract documents, surveys and field data.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy with MS Office software, printers and plotters.
- Ability to obtain OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification.
