Title: Lead Accountant - External Reporting at Lyondell Location: TX-Houston LyondellBasell , one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies is looking to add a Lead Accountant to our External Reporting team to be located at our corporate offices in Houston, TX
The principal responsibilities for the External Reporting Lead Accountant will include assisting in the preparation and qualitative review of the company's internal and external financial statements.
Responsibilities * Prepare consolidated financial statements with a strong emphasis on the statement of cash flows, and related SEC compliant disclosures, including management's discussion and analysis of financial condition and results of operations * Determine the accounting and required disclosures for complex business transactions * Lead initiatives such as productivity enhancements and projects to streamline the financial reporting process * Implementation of system improvements * Set up and run verification reporting independently * Review flash reports * Prepare and review earnings releases * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with individuals in other departments, both locally and globally * Provide leadership on teams and various project assignments About LyondellBasell LyondellBasell is one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies. * A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting is required; advanced degree is a plus * Working knowledge of US GAAP is essential * Working knowledge of IFRS, SAP, Hyperion and Microsoft Office is preferred * Position typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in financial accounting * Must be highly self-sufficient and knowledgeable to make decisions and serve as a resource for other accountants * Must have the flexibility to multi-task, consistently meet deadlines, and perform self review of work product for quality in a dynamic environment * Must be well organized, able to prioritize and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to drive continuous improvement and ensure achievement of Company goals * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are essential * Overtime is required during various times of the month/year Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
