Co-ops will be placed into one of the following roles: Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Process Control Engineering, or Information Technology.
Basic Qualifications: - Completed at least one year of coursework in Chemical Engineering, Pulp or Paper Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines.
- A minimum core curriculum GPA of 2.8

Information Technology Co-op Project work involving local area networks, personal computer hardware and software, as well as end user support. Work will include troubleshooting end user problems with PC hardware and software, installing PC operating systems. Assignments will also include end user training on operating system GUI interface, maintaining server backups, maintaining PC inventory, preventative maintenance on various shop floor peripherals, monitor and maintain Windows servers, and printer support. Depending on skill set may have the opportunity to work on in-house applications, SQL reporting and SharePoint Intranet site.
Process Control Co-op Project work involving DCS in all areas of the mill such as pulp mill, paper machines, OCC mill, power and recovery. Position reports to a Senior Process Control Engineer. Work will include a variety of activities in support of mill process control systems to include tasks associated with new or upgrade projects. Key opportunities are: develop understanding of mill control system functions, configuration both control and operator station; communication network and interfaces; data historian / user information applications; system troubleshooting; engineering documentation (PID, Loop Sheet, Electrical Elementary); chance to enhance understanding of the unit operations associated with manufacture of Pulp and Paper.
Process Engineering Co-op Process Optimization work on a 100% recycled linerboard machine, OCC plant, two corrugated medium machines, and a chemical recovery operation in a modern paper mill. Work under the direction for a Senior Process/Control engineer. Provides Process Engineering support, run chemical, pulp and paper trials, lab work for pulp and paper analysis, operational data analysis.
Project Engineering Co-op - Project Management: Responsible for leading project teams through all phases of a project, from preliminary engineering to start-up and commissioning. Includes development and management of Design Drawings, Project Scope, Project Budget, and Project Schedule.
- Mill Support: Responsible for providing technical support for operations and maintenance. This support includes root cause analysis, participation on critical-issue teams, and execution of larger maintenance projects.
- Safety: Support Department Safety Plan, which includes mill safety audits and monthly safety meetings. Ensure contractors comply with G-P policy and procedures when doing construction work on site.
Reliability Co-op Responsibilities will include project work for maintenance, engineering, and reliability improvement ideas, Autocad use, and installation supervision. Project development will be accomplished by working with Reliability engineers and maintenance personnel utilizing electrical and mechanical engineering principals. Projects will typically involve reliability driven improvements, lubrication improvements, vibration and thermal analysis surveys, electrical and instrumentation systems, and electrical motor testing analysis. Participation in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and other reliability activities will be required.
