Title: Data Curator Location: India-Bangalore Monsanto is passionate about using science and technology to improve agriculture. Monsanto scientists are conducting the research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT works directly with the Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable these research and development efforts. Candidates with a strong background in science and PC proficient are highly desired for this position. The accepted candidate will join the emerging field of IT systems informatics leveraging their scientific training to play a key role in defining and delivering breakthrough science in high throughput R&D platforms for Monsanto. This position is responsible for management and curation of Monsanto research data. The environment consists predominately of Oracle databases, PL/SQL code, and a substantial base of custom developed applications that depend on the Data Management Team for data support. Team members are mostly senior level people with substantial experience in their respective areas of responsibilities and possibly contractors of less than 1 - 2 years experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent written English skills and a strong experience in resolving complex data issues. Qualities of a successful candidate are self motivation, detail orientation, proactiveness in communication, excellent coordination skills and ability to work as part of a global team in a highly time critical environment. Candidate should have strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills. The candidate must be a self starter and be able to work alone or as part of a team. Educational qualification Any degree with relavent IT experience. A degree in Science, additional qualifications in Agriculture, biotechnology or bio engineering, with particular interest in the areas of Agronomy, Plant Genetics and Plant Breeding highly desirable although not required. Work Experience 2-6 years of total experience. 1.5 years of working experience with PL/SQL. Technical Skills PL/SQL with Excellent working knowledge of SQL scripting, complex data curation and ability to write and modify SQL procedures is needed. Job location Bangalore
