Entry Level Chemical Process Engineer

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations associated with site operations
  • Provide process engineering support to operations and maintenance organizations
  • Define and implement process upgrades to improve operability and cost effectiveness
  • Prepare and execute projects that improve safety and operability of the plant
  • Provide root cause failure analysis of operating problems
  • Support the design and implementation of capital projects
  • Provide process safety support to continually reduce plant risks
  • Use planning and organizational skills to set goals and obtain results
  • Work effectively across all levels of the plant organization; individually and with cross-functional teams
  • Use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to:
    • Create and modify documents and tables using Word
    • Create and modify spreadsheets using Excel
    • Create, prepare and present data using PowerPoint

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited University or will complete a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited University no later than semester-end Spring 2012
  • Major GPA 3.0 or greater
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to:
    • Create and modify documents and tables using Word
    • Create and modify spreadsheets using Excel
    • Create, prepare and present data using PowerPoint
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must have a valid and current government issued drivers license.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Experience at a refinery, chemical or petrochemical site
  • Applied ASPEN Modeling experience
  • Experience applying statistical tools to data analysis
  • Intermediate and/or Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to:
    • Create and modify procedure documentation and formatting using Word
    • Create workbooks and writing formulas with functions using Excel
    • Create slides for presentations and project mapping, prepare and present data using PowerPoint

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (with or without reasonable accommodation) AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Accessing elevated platforms by ladder (includes egress)
  • Accessing multiple floors of open structures by stairway (includes egress)
  • Accessing equipment by ladder or stairway
  • Entering and movement within confined spaces
  • Entering and movement upon unpaved areas
  • Operating company vehicles
  • Manipulating and donning respiratory protective equipment
  • Donning flammable resistant clothing
  • Periodic workdays in excess of 8 hours
  • Periodic outside work in extreme temperatures at various times throughout the year
  • Must be willing to relocate to Texas
