Chemical Operator - Erie, PA
Title: Chemical Operator - Erie, PA Location: United States-Pennsylvania-Erie Other Locations: Our Erie, PA manufacturing site is seeking candidates for the position of chemical processor. This position is responsible for mixing/blending of materials, operation of process equipment, material handling, instrument monitoring, record keeping, and forklift operation. Must follow all safety procedures and act in a safe manner at all times.
In performing your job you will have to read instrumentation and perform tests in arriving at conclusions with regard to controlling process variables. You would be responsible for assuring the product is made correctly according to standard manufacturing orders. You would also perform some quality control analysis during the manufacturing steps.
You would be responsible for preventive maintenance of the equipment you are working on and preventing the loss of materials and products. You would also be responsible for assuring that no environmental excursions occur on your process. You would also be required to enter data into our computerized manufacturing system on a routine basis.
* High school diploma or GED equivalent. Technical degree or completed chemistry courses would be beneficial. * Experience in a chemical plant environment is a plus. * Familiarity or general knowledge of computers is needed * An understanding and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues etc. (MSDS's, use of PPE etc.) * Working outdoors and the use of stairways/ladders to perform tasks. Physical strength is required to operate manual process equipment. Must meet lifting requirements (60 lbs.) and pass physical and respiratory requirements. * Be able to function as a member of team and work within a team environment. * Adherence to attendance and punctuality policies is critical. * Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed working with minimal supervision * Rotating shift work is required, including weekends and holidays.
