Job Description
The Associate Director, Medical Affairs Publications and Operations works within medical affairs to drive strategic planning, process development and maintenance, and project tracking and reporting within the BioScience Global Medical Affairs Organization. This individual is responsible for organizing and leading cross-functional project teams to deliver on agreed upon process creation and strategic reporting and analysis of medical activities and intelligence, collaborating closely with stakeholders in clinical and preclinical R&D, medical affairs, marketing, legal, project management, and global and country organizations.

He/she serves as the project manager for the BioT Medical Affairs Global team, ensuring that the team operates in an efficient and effective capacity in d efining goals, setting priorities and reporting and analyzing activities. He/she provides regular input and analysis into key issues regarding process, efficiency, regulations and compliance.

• Specific duties include: a) Creating and implementing operating mechanisms; b) Ensure operational efficiency and cross-functional alignment in process improvements; c) Collaborating with all levels of management cross function and franchise to develop, implement, train, evaluate and maintain medical-affairs specific processes; d) Creating and implementing project management plan to track and report monthly, quarterly and yearly activities (e.g., dashboards and reports for senior leadership); e) serving as the resource point and router for all internal requests for medical expertise and presence f) maintaining medical affairs expertise database and requests; g) Mange medical communication vendors to ensure the delivery of quality documents in a cost efficient and timely manner; h) Keeps abreast of current industry best practice guidelines in publication planning and medical writing and ensures Baxter compliance with industry practices; i) E ffectively plan and manage publication budget, providing updates to management and finance as needed; j) Leads cross-functional publication development team meetings and communication among team members; k) Manages contract resources in the development of publications to meet objectives in a cost efficient and timely manner effectively using project management skills; l) Coordinates the implementation of the publication plan to ensure deliverables are met within timeline set by the publication strategy; m) Creates publication timelines and provides regular publication project status reports to publication core team for each brand

Job Requirements

Ability to collaborate across multiple project teams in a global matrix organization to build and execute on new processes Strong leadership, influence and communication skills In-depth understanding of the regulatory, compliance and functional medical affairs environment Experience in process development and/or project management Solid critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities Qualifications

Advanced degree or MBA or country equivalent in business or science required. 5+ years at a pharmaceutical, device or biotechnology company required, preferred 5+ years experience within medical affairs. Knowledge of Baxter and product lines/therapeutic areas is helpful.
