Job Title Advanced Programs Research Associate; Polymer Chemistry & Catalysis Department Technology Region/Pole Americas Functional Work Area Engineering Essential Functions/Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a key contributor/team member on platform programs led by advanced-level scientists as part of our global Advanced Programs team, which is chartered with developing new materials, processes and applications requiring 5-10 years to bring to full commercialization. · Conduct exploratory research in polymer chemistry and catalysis through proof-of-concept stage. · Plan, set up, and conduct various chemistry, polymerization and processing experiments · Learn and master the basics of supported catalyst synthesis and oxidative coupling polymerizations, and customize laboratory processes to address specific research needs. · Participate in process scale-up from laboratory to the Pilot Plant. As part of team Identify process/equipment limitations; solve process design and operational issues to improve capability to make new materials on bench and pilot scales. · Contribute to several projects simultaneously, effectively interacting and communicating with diverse project teams that include product technologists platform chemists, analytical technologists, and pilot plant personnel from across the SABIC Technology and Innovation Organization as well as external interactions with vendors and potential collaborations with external research organizations

Qualifications/Requirements · BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymers preferred; degrees in other physical sciences, engineering, or related fields will also be considered · Proven experience with experimental discipline & skills; including basic understanding state-of-the-art, experimental set up, executing experimental plans, accurate laboratory record keeping and documentation and compliance to applicable environmental health and safety directives. · Self-motivated and able to work independently. Demonstrates effective time and priority management across multiple, diverse sets of tasks and delivering quality results. · Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, both in written and verbal form · Ability and desire to learn new technology, identify and benchmark best-in class competitive technology · Ability work in a matrix organization with team members located in other geographic poles · Able to work flexible hours to accommodate global team schedules; able to travel domestically and internationally if required up to 20% of the time
