Optical Engineer for Global Automotive Lighting LEDs

Categories: Engineering
*Manage the Engineering Darkroom facility, support personnel and associated equipment, including goniometry.
*Design and develop illumination systems for automotive lighting products for forward, signal and interior lighting applications.
*Work closely with OEM and Tier 1 customers to identify new product opportunities and designs, especially with LED technology.
*Develop new and improve existing optical design techniques and technologies.
*Must interface with Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing associates as needed.
Requirements:
Extensive knowledge in related optical engineering design and development field.
*Knowledge of optical materials and manufacturing processes of optical components and systems.
*Knowledge of discharge, halogen and led light source technologies required.
*Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations preferred.
*Limited travel to customer locations will be required.
*Requires high degree of independent problem solving, strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills.
Experience with non-imaging optics and photometric measurement systems.
Experience with CAD systems (Solidworks, UG and Rhino preferred).
Experience with ASAP or Lucid Shape optical design software or equivalent.
BS in Physics or Science with Optics required; MS in Physics preferred.
